                                                                                  Chairman's Message

Dear Members and Colleagues,
With great pleasure on behalf of Gurkha Nepalese Community London Borough of Hounslow, I would like to extend my warm welcome to all members of the community and Nepalese who are working and living in surrounding boroughs of Hounslow to join and become a member of GNCH for working and cohering together to build a strong Nepalese Community in Hounslow.
Operational work
Because of the generosity, dedication and involvement of our founding members and elected committee members, we have made all things seem possible such as financial (0-up to standard level) registration of 241 members/families within the last two years and organising events such as:
Nepal New Year party ,Dasain, Summer BBQ,Ladies Night,Taekwondo Classes,Gurkha VC Cup (One day Football Tournament), Annual General Meeting (AGM),Adult Education,And helping to needy members on SSAFA Case working matter. Our events are very important on developing community cohesion and integration events that they practically involvedby searching through the website. There are many other organisations that have started ringing bells to involve and offer help for the community especially Hounslow Councillors and staffs and local non Nepalese charity/volunteer organisations in Hounslow and elsewhere.
The community had its second Annual General meeting (AGM) on19th of February 2011at Hounslow Council chamber using the live webcam broadcasting for the first time ever. We exclusively invited all other existing Nepalese communities and associations at least more than 2 months in advance to attended the AGM and get the information for their need.On this occasion the community invited the Leader of Hounslow Borough and other guest speakers from various organisations. As a result of this we can now get help and advice to our needy members from with Gurkha welfareCentre and SSAFA. As a Chairman myself, I am a trained SSAFA case worker and I have already assisted a few new members to get financial and equipment help .I therefore would like to request those members who need help or advice, to feel free to contact us through GNCH Secretary Mr Dol Malla.
Contribution and Membership fee Subscription
The area that committee members are getting difficulties on is the member's renewal fee and the contribution. We have carefully drafted our constitution which has been passed by the general members on our Annual general meeting and Election Day on 24th of January 2010.We are therefore to abide by constitutional duty/responsibilities to share and help those in difficult situation. It isa compulsory contribution of £20 per funeral and £10 annuallymembership renewal fee to the community. All members have to contribute and renew their membership, regardless of the individual members who are registeredas members of many other organisations. The chairman and the committee are very grateful and would like to thank all those who have been fulfilling their general member's duty and encouraging others and making it clear to all those who misunderstood about contribution and other events. Members are most welcome to contact any of the committee members if they have any queries on community matters. Thank you
Unity among Gurkha Nepalese Hounslow
We feel "positive" and have determination in bringing our community exclusively together properly and step by step despite our split and some confusion created by minority small group in the interest of unity.Without a doubt, we have come a long way from our motherland "NEPAL" and family to fulfil our own as well as our family's dream and aspiration; yet despite the distance we have so much love and harmony here in our Gurkha Nepalese community that we can proudly praise our unique unity. We can make Gurkha Nepalese Community Hounslow to have a long history, be proud and continue to have harmony and togetherness, and in the years to come, we wish to continue growing with these values and make valued contribution to our community.
I would like to sincerely ask all those who fell apart on the ground of differences to shrug off insults/ jibes directed towards each other in the past few years and "work together in the Nepalese people's interest in Hounslow". It will be an administration united by four key principles; transparency, freedom, fairness and responsibility.Let constantly nurture the seeds of love, harmony, and unity among ourselves so that they would continually flourish forever in Hounslow.

With best wishes
Bishnu Bahadur Gurung
Chairman GNCH
